Dear Frederick Mutual Agents:
As previously announced, as of January 1, 2024, Frederick Mutual has made the business decision to exit personal lines of business (homeowners, dwelling fire, and personal umbrella) in all states (Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina). Policyholders will receive an explanatory letter approximately 60 days prior to policy expiration and a notice of non-renewal at least 45 days prior to policy expiration. Similarly, on a weekly basis approximately 60 days prior to policy expiration, Frederick Mutual is sending agency principals a list of policies that are being non-renewed. This process has begun, and you may receive questions from your personal lines’ customers and/or agency staff. If the additional staff in your office should receive these lists, please contact helpdesk@frederickmutual.com and we will add those staff members to our ongoing communications regarding the list of accounts to be non-renewed.
As we have communicated, Frederick Mutual has entered into renewal rights agreements with Farmers of Salem New Jersey for policyholders located in Maryland and Pennsylvania. We are working closely with Rockingham Insurance regarding Homeowners located in Virginia and Halifax Mutual regarding Homeowners located in North Carolina. For all policies that meet the underwriting guidelines of the identified carriers, policyholders will receive an offer of insurance from that carrier concurrent with the receipt of the non-renewal notice. At this point, you should have been contacted by the carriers in the states in which you currently have Frederick Mutual personal lines policies. If you have not, please see the contact information for the carriers below.
Questions regarding the policies' eligibility should be directed to the underwriting departments of the new carrier.
